Coming Out in Rural Canada
Figuring out who you are is difficult enough and telling people about it can be a very emotional experience; now imagine living in a place that has limited exposure to the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans & Queer) community, where people don’t know what to think (or they do and it’s not very nice)!
Vance Hedman, a 25 year-old from a small town outside of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, came out at 16. In this segment, he talks about his experience and how he’s proud of being a gay man and the struggles he’s overcome.
Caden Craig, the Senior Manager of Counselling at Kids Help Phone, lets us know how, whether you’re in a rural area or right downtown, their organization is available to help any and all kids who want to talk.
