With celebrities like Beyoncé and Oprah ruling the world (face it, Anderson Cooper was right: it is Beyoncé’s world, and we are all just living in it), it is important to explore their culture. Though I could go on for ever (and ever) about African-American or Afro-Canadian style, this is about the whole world, so let’s take a look at Africa itself, and see how we can apply some elements of this gorgeous continent to our personal style.
One thing that is characteristic of African style is that it is LOUD. Never too much, of course, but their usage of bright colours and busy patterns isn’t exactly for the faint of heart. If your style is more diminutive than demanding, you might want to take a look at Paris style. In terms of print, it’s a little hard to get the real thing, but brands like Suno are slowly introducing a little bit of African style to North America.
Want to start adding some African-esque colour and pattern to YOUR next look? More visual stimulation to get you started!
